Wow it's been awhile! I was down in New Orleans for the convention and then went home for spring break. Just got back to campus today. Sadly I did not get much gaming done, but I did try out a few app games for the iOS.
First is Zombie Takeover. It's one of those games that you can spend a few minutes every few hours playing, just updating things and growing your army. It's fairly interesting, but it feels like there are a lot of components. You have to feed your zombies to grow them, and make minions for them, and transform them from humans when you get new ones. Eventually you can also build their skills. And when you send them to battle and they die, you have to retransform them and give them a new minion. All of these processes take a few hours to do. So it's fun if you only want to build your army in a long term way, but if you're looking for a good time killer this is not a good game for that.
A good time killer would be Sango TD, a defense game where you defend your Chinese Three Kingdoms-like castle from invading waves by buying different types of soldiers. Different levels let you use different soldiers, like melee fighters, archers, some sort of slow-casting mage, a catapult, and some sort of drummer guy that seems to buff units next to it. Very interesting game that gets old quick, but playing a new levels here and there is very enjoyable. It is actually pretty difficult, too, especially if you play the harder mode. It's fairly difficult to get 3/3 stars for each one. A good challenge!
Another time killer is the new game Plants War. I actually have a lot of fun with this game. It is fairly easy compared to Sango TD. It is sort of like a single-player MOBA game, where you play against a NPC and you have to destroy towers to get to their base, and little minions spawn at intervals to help you. You can unlock different minion types and characters to play with different styles. You can play in three modes and try to collect three stars in each mode, and currently there are 30 levels. You can also get achievements that actually reward you with items you can use in the game. I really like this one, and can't wait for new levels and for this to grow.
So classes start again tomorrow, but I really want to start playing Zelda Skyward Sword again. Must... resist...and do...homework...
